Microsoft has announced that Project Online End of Life is coming sooner than expected. Instead of investing in legacy systems, Microsoft is putting its resources into:

•    Planner Premium
•    Microsoft Teams
•    Microsoft 365 Copilot
•    Agentic AI and the Project Manager Agent
•    Power Platform
•    Dataverse

Every Project Online environment, especially those with customizations, will need to be refactored to transition successfully. The question is not if you will modernize, but how quickly and strategically you can modernize?

 

Transition Before It’s Too Late

Delaying your transition off Project Online creates significant risks:

  • Project Online is being shut down — not just deprecated. Access ends September 30, 2026

  • Your data, customizations, and reports will be lost. Dashboards, workflows, and historical insights will disappear unless proactively transitioned

  • There’s not enough time for a typical 12–18 month migration. Between planning, approvals, implementation, and training — the clock is already ticking

  • Skilled partners are booking up fast. As the deadline nears, qualified vendors will be in short supply, driving delays and higher costs
